Memorializing ourselves and art

"Why is it we want so badly to memorialize ourselves? Even when we're still alive, we wish to assert our existence......We put on display our framed photographs, our parchment diplomas, our silver-played cups; we monogram our linen, we carve our names on trees, we scrawl them on washroom walls. It's all for the same impulse. What do we hope from it?

Applause, envy, respect? Or simply attention of any kind we can get? At the very least we want a witness. We can't stand the idea of our own voices falling silent finally, like a radio running down."

I like to observe people and things around me silently sometimes. Sometimes I will immediately pulled out my camera, and shot things around me before they blurred into the shadow world.

Somehow there is this desire to keep minute details either in words or photographs and I am not sure how to explain. It can be obsessive at times. It is not just the visual and facts, but rather the emotions in that exact moment and looking back, re-experiencing that emotion again.

So then, I must be an emotional-keeper. Perhaps an artist job is to make order out of chaos or collect details, look for a pattern, and organize. Sometimes I seem to be trying to make sense out of senseless facts and puzzle together bits of everything.

I shuffle things and reorganize.

I photograph because I have become a memory keeper of a sort.

On the other hand, someone asked me if it is ok to send him one of my photographs as a stock photo. At first I did not really get it and then he explained and showned me some examples. Then I was looking around in DeviantART and I realised that there are amazing artists there that needs stock photos to do some of their work, too and I would gladly allow them to use some of mine and such. Therefore, I have decided to allow some of my photography to be stock photos within DeviantART ( but not all because some of these I am submitting to Noise Singapore and for other purposes. )

I know I do not have a proper camera or tripod yet but I guess I am raising money for that. It will probably take some time to get the money I need.

Anyway, if you would like to use some of my photos as a stock image, kindly send me a note and very briefly what do you want it for ( example: Photo-Manipulation ) I can send you the orginal image or something. However, I only allow it to be used within deviantART and do not use in racist or pornographic manner.

Credit me and note me with a link to your finished work, please.
